गुजरात के आयुर्वेदाचार्य डॉ. महेश मेहता ने ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन पर हुई बैठक में गो ग्रीन इंडिया के सदस्य, भारतीय किसान जनता पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता व अवंतिका स्कूल ऑफ होम साइंस (गर्ल्स) के अध्यक्ष एम. एन. खैरे को माता धन्वंतरि को फोटोफ्रेम प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया।
इस मौके पर एम. एन. खैरे ने ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन के बारे में बताया कि ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन जलवायु परिवर्तन की चुनौती से निपटने के लिए भारत के आठ मिशन में से एक है। इसे फरवरी 2014 में सुरक्षा के लिए लॉन्च किया गया था। इसका मकसद भारत के कम होते वन आवरण को बहाल करना और जलवायु परिवर्तन के खतरे से निपटने के लिए तैयार रहना है।
राष्ट्रीय ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन के उद्देश्यों में भारत के घटते वन आवरण की रक्षा, पुनर्स्थापन और संवर्द्धन करना, अनुकूलन के संयोजन के साथ-साथ शमन उपायों के माध्यम से जलवायु परिवर्तन का जवाब देना, वन आधारित आजीविका से आय में वृद्धि करना आदि उद्देश्यों को अमल में लानी चाहिए।
